Anyway, glad to hear you're feeling better. I've also never knitted a shawl, and since having children have avoided lace (as it's difficult to pick the pattern back up once having to put it down after untangling children, mopping up spilt dinner or running up and down the stairs every ten mins trying to get one (or all) of the blighters to sleep!). I bought Victorian Lace Today and there are quite a few in there that are just beautiful. I also just saw the Cherry Blossom Shawl from IK Spring 2002 and I'm in love with that one! Nothing original in those suggestions really, just the ones I've seen around and caught my eye. Nothing "with spices." I can't help with the laciness. I've only made a clapotis and lacy socks. The clapotis is faboo for a nursing coverup, btw. It saved my bacon on the trip to Chicago.
