Haven’t you ever wanted to just make up a word and go for it? Check one off the list of …things to do.
I know what you are thinking. “MORE monkey socks? Is this woman crazy?” The answer is yes. Wait, I mean no. Or yes?
The truth is I love the basis to this pattern. I can tell you I am enamored because I’m already halfway through knitting the 5th set of these socks. Yes, that’s sock number 9 in total for team monkey, and you’re not losing it, you’ve only seen three pairs so far.
The next two pairs have a certain liberty taken with the pattern, and the next (and final for awhile) pair will have one more difference, which I think will make this pattern my all time favorite, at least for handpainted looking yarns.
Speaking of handpainted, this yarn is also Claudia’s, in the bearded iris colorway. And to further the handpainted discussion, I have lots of thoughts on this yarn in general that I will be summing up quite shortly.
Some other fun things for you kids to check out:
NonaSwatches: I bet if Nona swatches, I can too! TI love this idea. How often does one knit simply for the joy of it? And to discover new ideas and play with stitches for no particular reason along the way? Very kewl. You can see the running theme through Nona’s knitting as the project moves along.
The Walker Treasury Project: A great, great, fanTAStic idea. Barbara Walker’s knitting treasuries are worth their weight in gold. The only drawback has been the flat grayscale images. Knitters uniting to solve a common problem-that’s awesome.
Merino prices going up: Here we see an example of how we are both directly and indirectly affected by the climate changes around the world.
Anyway, back to the grind of things. Keep warm out there.
